Salesforce

Community Cloud Team
2014-2016

My Role

Led product design for 5 scrum teams across internal and external products on the Salesforce Community Cloud to build out the profile in Salesforce Lightning and Community templates, the Community Management/Moderation experience, and two years of demos for the Community Cloud Keynote at Dreamforce.

Salesforce Lightning Profile

The goal of this project was to modernize the look and feel of the profile view in Salesforce and add some delight, such as the new customizable banner image (which we also added to groups). I used the existing profile as a reference point and worked within the Salesforce Lightning Design System patterns to create the initial version we built. We conducted two usability studies to determine the ultimate layout and field placement. To build the MVP, I worked with a scrum team in India of about 5 developers, as well as a product manager and user research team based locally in San Francisco. his was one of my first projects as a freelance UX Designer. The primary goal was to design an intuitive onboarding experience that allowed parents to understand the app and input relevant details about their kid(s) for a personalized experience.

Salesforce Community Profile

I was responsible for the community template profile. Below are a couple explorations for the page.

Community Manager Task Management

I spent 1.5 years at Salesforce working on a range of projects related to the community management experience, and was the sole designer on the product for my last release. These projects included topic and article management, management home, Insights (task management), and moderation. We conducted several rounds of user research for both discovery and usability purposes. My final project focused on better integrating the setup, management, and moderation experience(s) for the three primary community management personas (admins, managers, and moderators).

These designs do not reflect the final product, but rather, an explorative exercise.

Community Dashboard Explorations

Part of the community management experience is moderating the activity in the community. We originally had a more static overview page for community managers that provided a lot of quick links to other sections of the console. As part of my explorations, I sought to liven up the page and provide managers with an improved experience to optimize their productivity and efficiency. I also wanted to follow the patterns from our new style guide, which our larger team had yet to adopt. We ran these designs through user testing to find a balance between feasibility and performance.

Community Leaderboard Explorations

User research indicated that static numbers and levels were meaningless to users, so the objective of this exploration was to emphasize contextual understanding and engagement in the home page Community Leaderboard.
