GOOD DESIGN (IMO)
What UX Design is | What UX design isn’t
💃🏽
✓ Problem-oriented
✓ Person-first
✓ Empathy-driven
Good UX solves a real problem for a real user. That user (presumably) is a human being. UX is person-centric and helps a real-life individual alleviate a frustration, experience delight in a mundane moment, and/or feel empowered to take action to improve their quality of life. UX is a blend of human behavior, human-product interaction, and empathy-driven intuition.

✕ “Making something pretty”
I think about software development this way. Engineering = make it work. UX = make it work well. UX writing = make it make sense. UI = make it look bomb. All of these functions work together to create a meaningful solution that addresses a real problem. A powerful and positive user experience makes the user want to come back and tell a friend to tell a friend how awesome your product is.
WHAT INTRIGUES ME
Areas of interest:
How might we empower the current and next generation of entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners?
SMB SaaS & Creator Economy
Insurance is a beast to navigate (nearly 30M Americans aren’t even insured 😭). We know dreadfully little about our bodies and how they work. Holistic wellness is often inaccessible or written off as “woo woo.” I’ve been in the wellness space for nearly 7 years now and am particularly passionate about women’s health, sexual wellness, education, and mental health.
Health & Wellness, EdTech
How might we make the daily grind a little more bearable and give people the tools they need to crush it at work and, dare I say, maybe even enjoy it a little?

ABOUT ME
Let’s see…
Since I was little, I’ve always known exactly what I wanted to do: help people. First, I wanted to help prevent wrongful convictions as a criminal defense attorney and help incarcerated people build a life after prison. So, I spent a summer at Harvard one summer during high school studying Law & Psychology. Next, I wanted to become a chemical engineer and do something really smart with nanotechnology (this period was short-lived). So, I pursued an internship at Argonne National Laboratory investigating methods of cathode synthesis in the production of solid oxide fuel cells. Then, I wanted to become a product designer and solve large problems at scale. So, I studied product design at Stanford and started by career as a UX Designer at Salesforce. What next? I realized how abysmal the state of sex ed was and I wanted to help people feel empowered in their bodies and relationships. So, I started a sexual wellness business called tabú that’s been featured in Forbes, The New York Times, CNN Style, and countless other publications. Now, I am a product designer and serial social entrepreneur. I solve problems that matter and make real sh*t happen. Browse this site for a glimpse of the problem areas I’ve tackled and let me know what problems we can solve, together. I can’t wait to work with you!
ABOUT YOU
You’re looking for a creative partner to help you bring your vision to life. You want your brand to tell a story that resonates with your ideal user/customer. You know that good design doesn’t just “look pretty.” It’s functional, intuitive, and solves meaningful problems. You want your users to rave about you and you’re ready and eager to level up.
CLIENT FEEDBACK
“Mia has an incredible eye and talent for digital design. I came to her wanting a 'better' pricing page, with no clue of what I actually wanted. She started with understanding the company and users before diving into the design, offered insights into our existing user experience I never would have seen. What she delivered was more amazing than I could have ever imagined, and the new designs increased conversions on our pricing page. I look forward to working with her more in the future.”
